THE COUNTDOWN to the Limerick Going for Gold 2025 grand final is officially underway, as six local groups have been selected as Wildcards to join the prestigious competition.
With over €70,000 in prize funding up for grabs, this year’s event promises to be one of the most competitive and rewarding to date.
The six Wildcard groups, announced following a comprehensive judging process, are Croagh, Galbally, Garrienderk, Glin, Kilfinane, Templeglantine.

These communities were selected across three judging categories: Going for Gold Tidy Towns, Limerick Bee Friendly in Bloom, and Residential Area.
They will now join the previously confirmed groups of Castleconnell, Kilmallock, Kilmeedy, Athea, and Bulgaden, who secured their places through a public vote hosted by Live95.
The competition celebrates and rewards the tireless efforts of communities and volunteers working to enhance and beautify their local environments.
This year, judges have also introduced additional awards to highlight outstanding dedication across Limerick City and County.
Limerick Going for Gold 2025 grand final, which takes place on October 23 at the Castletroy Park Hotel.
The €70,000 prize fund will be shared over a range of categories from the Tidy Towns Category, Limerick Bee Friendly in Bloom, Residential Areas, Endeavour Award and the Reuse Award.
Funded by Limerick City and County Council (LCCC) and the JP McManus Charitable Foundation, the initiative is supported by Live95, Limerick Leader, The Limerick Post, I Love Limerick, and Southern.
The Going for Gold initiative continues to shine a light on the transformative power of community spirit, environmental awareness, and civic pride across Limerick.
