THE Northstar Family Support Project will be hosting its flagship event, the Annual Service of Commemoration and Hope, this October.

Joe Slattery, coordinator of Northstar Family Support Project said, “We hope that past and present participants of our service, partner organisations, families and individuals who have lost loved ones to addiction or anyone struggling looking for hope will join us”.

He explained that this flagship event is “always a very special and moving service”.

Mr Slattery added that “The Service of Commemoration and Hope is our flagship event, the first of which was held in the Augustinian Church in October 2008”.

The annual event was founded in the year as the Northstar Family Support Project was established.

“The service is an opportunity for connection and reflection. If you have lost a loved one to addiction, you are not alone in your pain. This service allows us to come together to support each other and highlight that substance misuse is a national issue,” he concluded.

Northstar Family Support Project is a community-based project providing non-judgmental support to adults who are affected by a family member's substance misuse.

The event will be held on Thursday, October 3 at the Augustinian Church, on O’Connell Street, Limerick city.
