The Boru3Peaks will feature two day-time and one night-time hill walking and running events in the surrounding peaks of Tountinna, Moyluss and Keeper Hill.

Funds raised from the annual event organised by the local Boru Tri Club will go to the Daughters of Charity and Clarisford Sports Ground Project. It takes place on Saturday and Sunday, October 13 and 14.

Orla Foley, of Boru3Peaks, says it is open to everyone, not just the super fit.

“It features individual or team events. You can enter one, two or all three events. Boru3Peaks is open to everyone from the speediest hill runner to the casual walker and everyone in between.

“We look forward to welcoming participants of all ages during what will be a fun and memorable weekend for all,” said Ms Foley.

Anthony Foley, who has reached many sporting summits with Munster, is lending his support.

“It is the least I can do in light of the wonderful work being carried out by those involved with the Daughters of Charity and the Clarisford Sports Ground Project.

“The proposed recreational and sports facilities will, once completed, deliver significant benefits for the community for many years to come,” said Mr Foley.

Minister of State, Alan Kelly said the Boru3Peaks will enable participants to experience the stunning views of Killaloe, Ballina and Lough Derg from a new perspective, while at the same time help to raise funds for two important projects.

“It promotes healthy activity amongst members of the local community, creates awareness of the awe-inspiring views and wonderful local amenities in the Killaloe/Ballina area,” said Minister Kelly.

Boru3Peaks kicks off with a walk to Moylussa - the highest point in Clare - on Saturday, October 13 at 10am.

That night at 7pm they start at the base of Tountinna. Scatterings of light from all the villages in the Lough Derg on the banks of the lake will be a sight to behold.

On Sunday morning the trail to Keeper Hill takes walkers through thick forest before clearing to reveal stunning landscapes.
