THE Army Bomb Disposal Unit has removed a suspected pipe bomb from a house in Limerick city.
The team rendered safe a suspect device that was found overnight at a house on Upper Gerald Griffin Street in the city.
Gardai called in the Army Bomb Disposal Team after the suspect device was found.
The team arrived on scene at 12.45am. A cordon and traffic restrictions were put in place for public safety, while a number of nearby apartments were evacuated.
The suspect item was rendered safe and removed to a military location for further testing and the scene was declared safe at 1.30am.
All items of an evidential nature will be handed over to Gardaí to assist them with their investigations.
