TRIBUTES are being paid to 21 year old Hugh Kavanagh who died suddenly at a house party in Limerick city at the weekend.
An outpouring of emotion on social media sites has greeted the tragic death of the Clareview man, whose funeral is due to take place this Tuesday morning in Our Lady of the Rosary Church.
Gardai are investigating the circumstances of Mr Kavanagh’s death, but are not treating it as suspicious. They were called to a flat in Steamboat Quay in the early hours of Saturday morning when he became unresponsive.
The 21 year old was removed by ambulance to University Hospital Limerick shortly after 6am after being found in a critical condition and subsequently died some hours later.
It is believed that drugs may have been a factor but Gardai are awaiting results of a post mortem and toxicology tests.
Gardai believe that drugs were being consumed at the party and have launched a full investigation in relation to who was there and what type of substances were being taken.
Those substances were removed from the scene and Gardai intend to question those who were there over the coming week.
