Action from Shannon RFC'S recent Munster Senior Cup semi-final victory over Cork Constitution I PICTURE: Brendan Gleeson
SHANNON RFC will be seeking Munster Senior Cup glory on Saturday when they take on Highfield, of Cork, in this year's decider at Temple Hill, kick-off 4.40pm.
Shannon got off the mark in this year's cup with a Round One victory against Bruff in Kilballyowen Park. Bruff earned themselves a solid 22-10 lead as they entered the final quarter.
However, Shannon rallied from behind to take the victory with a final score of 22-27.
David Smith crossed the white wash twice but it was late tries from Josh Costelloe (2) and one by Jack O’Donnell with a Jamie Gavin conversion saw Shannon advance to the Quarter Finals.
Shannon booked their place in the Senior Cup Final with a 16-10 win over Cork Constitution on the back pitch in Thomond Park last month.
A try by Cian McCann and a conversion and two penalties by Jamie Gavin gave Shannon a 13-0 interval lead. With wind advantage in the second half, Cork Constitution got back in the contest with a converted try. Gavin added his third penalty as Con’s only reply was a penalty.
On paper, AIL 2A side Shannon will be heading into this year's decider as underdogs given Highfield are competing in Division 1B of the All-Ireland League.

However, with Shannon operating at the summit of 2A and boasting a proud Senior Cup history, the Limerick side will relish the challenge.
