Wonderful trip down memory lane

I teamed up with Amanda Brunker, models from the Holman Lee Agency past and present and members of the fashion industry for filming A Model in the Making

WHAT a nice surprise I got when a call came through from an RTE producer to tell me that they had discovered footage from their archives in which I was a young model agent on a programme entitled A Model in the Making.

The footage, which dates from 1985 and was aired on RTE 1, brought back fond memories of great times in the industry. They gave me the task of recreating the programme and showing the industry for what it is today.

I was lucky to be able to contact some of the people in the original programme, the likes of Edel Cassidy for make-up, Susan Hackett for the hair and, of course, the star of the show, Sharon O’Flynn, who was 17 at the time. We all met at the Clarion Hotel this week for filming, bringing the old and the new together with the latest generation of Holman Lee Agency models.

While I watched the filming unfold, I thought to myself how visionary the Holman Lee Agency was 31 years ago. We were ahead of programmes like America’s Next Top Model and The Face. This episode of Access presented by Ciana Campbell was broadcast on March 14, 1985.

Wedding fair in the Kingdom

I DID not think that Easter Sunday could be a day for a wedding fair, but I was completely blown away by the huge crowd who turned out at The Earl of Desmond Hotel in Tralee.

The atmosphere in their newly revamped Desmond Room was so relaxed and inviting. Holman Lee Agency models and I were on hand to share tips and advice on all things fashion.

The fashion show was one to remember with beautiful, classy gowns being showcased by Finesse in Listowel, The Kerry Bridal Store in Tralee and bridesmaids dresses by Chantilly Lace in Limerick. Mother of the wedding couple and guest outfits were from Jasmine, Tralee.

The colours and styles of all these outfits were just stunning and so many people came to us and said they had found their dress and outfit on the catwalk! It was a day that people made the most of by having lunch in the restaurant and strolling around beautiful gardens afterwards. It was an absolute pleasure working with the team. Chat to you all next week!
