First 'Social Camogie' match set to take place in Limerick

THE Social Camogie programme in Limerick takes a big step forward this Tuesday evening when the first match is scheduled to take place.

Social Camogie is an adult recreational programme run by the Camogie Association to encourage more females to take part in camogie socially. 

This Tuesday, May 27, Cappamore play Galbally in Cappamore GAA Field in the first Social Camogie match in Limerick.

It is a non-competitive and recreational form of camogie, where players must be 25 years old and older and previous experience is not necessary. This programme is  designed to promote the sport of camogie among women of all walks of life and who are not currently registered to play competitive camogie within their own club.

The programme's aim to to encourage women to stay involved in sport and also promote physical and mental wellbeing. 

Among the Social Camogie rules are that no scores are recorded and there are no winners or losers; no solo and physical contact.
