Jobs under threat at Limerick’s flagship radio station amid 'challenging landscape'

Consultation process gets under way at Limerick's Live95FM
THERE are fears for jobs locally as the owner of Limerick radio station Live95 begins a restructuring process across its Irish operations.
Onic, the Rupert Murdoch-owned radio group which operates Live95, has started consultations with staff at its station in Limerick and across the country.
Limerick Live understands that Joe Nash, station director at Live95 and presenter of the Limerick Today daily morning show, will leave his role in the coming weeks. He has worked at the station for more than 25 years.
The station is understood to employ around 40 people on a full-and-part-time basis locally.

Sources have indicated that directors at stations in Cork, Dublin and Louth are also set to depart their positions.
The restructuring is understood to be aimed at centralising some operations across the group amid challenging trading conditions and pressure in the local advertising market.
In addition to Live95, Onic operates FM104 and Q102 in Dublin, Cork’s 96FM and C103, LMFM in Drogheda and U105 in Belfast, along with a number of digital audio services.
Onic was launched in 2025 following the rebrand of Wireless Ireland and Urbanmedia.
In a statement to Limerick Live, an Onic spokesperson said: “While the landscape remains challenging for all media businesses, we remain focused on evolving Onic to ensure our long-term success, leaning on digital transformation, operational efficiency and a proven track record of delivering great content to our loyal listeners.”
