OVER €13m worth of property sales in Limerick have been signed off over the last two months alone, the latest figures from the Property Price Register reveal.

Some 48 properties sold across Limerick this June, though this figure is expected to rise when more sales of houses are added to the register in the coming weeks.

Sales in Limerick for this June amounted to over €5,180,000, down from €7,987,056 in May, while April’s sales stood at €5,594,000 and there was €4,965,575 worth of sales in March. In all, this year’s sales amount to over €33.5m

The most expensive property to sell in Limerick last month was a house in Monaleen for €313,000, and the cheapest last month was for €25,000 in Herbertstown. Just five sales have been added to date for this month, the most expensive of which is a property in Woodlands, Adare for €560,000.

This year’s sales up to the end of June amount to 331, in line with 336 house sales for the same period in 2012. However, sales in Cork are much higher, at 1098, for the same period, with 544 in Galway, 336 in Kerry, 300 in Tipperary, and 224 in Clare. The capital has seen 3,380 sales so far this year. The property price register is searchable from 2010 on and is freely open to the public to view to give people a guide to house prices in their area.

There are currently nearly 3,000 properties for sale through Daft.ie in Limerick, and just six now command a seven-figure price-tag and just 50 of those properties have asking prices in excess of €500,000. Some 200 houses are estimated to be worth a minimum of €300,000 or more.

An auction of ‘distressed’ properties in Dublin under Allsop Space recently had to be abandoned due to protests, as some of the lots are sold by receivers. However, the auction house expects that the majority of the 100 lots will be sold nonetheless after they invited interested parties to make written bids by last week. The results of the sale will be disclosed in the coming week.
