SHANNON Airport staff and management are celebrating this week after landing a major industry award.
The local hub was named winner of the Operational Excellence in Aviation award at the prestigious Aviation Industry Awards, which took place at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Santry, Dublin.
Chris O'Donovan, the human resource director of the Shannon Group said: "We are delighted to receive this award for operational excellence as it recognises our commitment to really important areas such as innovation, customer service improvements, growth and sustainability initiatives. It’s a fantastic reflection of the dedication shown every day by our team, who consistently place passengers, safety and customer experience at the heart of everything they do.”

This latest win builds on Shannon Airport Group’s success at the Chambers Ireland Awards where it secured top prize in the environment and biodiversity category for its Thady’s Hill conservation grazing project.
In July the group also celebrated retaining its position as Ireland’s top airport brand for the third consecutive year in the Red C Brand Reaction Index Ireland 2025.
It's also nominated for public enterprise of the year at the upcoming Business and Finance Awards, which take place next Thursday at Dublin's Convention Centre.
