Limerick food firm strikes gold at Düsseldorf trade show

STAFF at a Hospital food company are celebrating this week after scooping a prestigious award at an international trade show.

HL Commodity Foods Ltd has landed the golden trophy award for best innovation at the International Bakers Association's bakery and confectionary show which took place in the German city of Düsseldorf .

The award recognises the firm's advanced formulaic patented heat stable cheese product.

Developed and refined over many years, the firm's produCt is a heat-stable cream cheese designed to seamlessly integrate into the products of pizza, baking, and meat industries.

Harry Lawlor, the founder of HL Commodity Foods, said the award is a welcome boost.

Off the back of the award win, the firm is looking to bring forward plans to expand its manufacturing facility in Limerick.

At present, more than 20 people are employed in Hospital, with hopes this will double.

Founded by Harry Lawlor in 1985, HL Commodity Foods has a 40-year history of exporting Irish food products across Europe and to USA.
