WELL known Doon character and gambler, John Anderson owes JJ Hanrahan a Christmas present after his last minute try against Perpignan saved his bacon.
Two weeks ago John staked €4,000 on Munster to beat Perpignan in France in the Heineken Cup at odds of 4/5.
With seconds to go John was facing beans on toast on Christmas Day instead of turkey and ham as Perpignan led 17 to 13.
With the clock already in the red Hanrahan produced a magical sidestep 25 metres out and touched down in the corner.
Munster won 18-17 and John pocketed €3,200 after clutching victory from defeat.
The massive Munster fan is well known for his large punts and has won tens of thousands on the men in red.
He says Munster never leave him down and they proved it once again in France.
