AN upmarket homeware store is set to open on William Street in the coming months, with the creation of five full-time jobs and fill a unit left vacant for two years.
The store occupies the former premises of fashion brand Sasha, which closed in 2009, and will occupy a key position between Curry’s and A-Wear.
Allens of Kilkenny, which also has stores in Carlow and Athlone, will now be branching out into the mid-west and have chosen Limerick as a prime destination to serve a new legion of followers.
“This is an exciting new endeavour and we look forward to meeting new customers throughout the south west,” said a spokesperson.
The Limerick store, located at 68 William Street, is currently undergoing a refurbishment and will concentrate on gifts and kitchenware.
William Street has undergone a massive upgrade in recent months, with few stores lying vacant on either lower or upper William Street.
Allens of Kilkenny was established in 1948 by Mary and Patrick Allen. Now in its third generation, the family opened the Carlow store in 1980 followed by the Athlone store in 2004.
With over 8000 products, the store carries all the favoured brands including Vera Wang, Waterford Crystal, Denby Pottery, Royal Doulton, amongst many others.
