30kg (€15,400) of Amber Leaf seized in Shannon and Limerick
REVENUE has seized more than €15,400 worth of unstamped Amber Leaf tobacco in Shannon and Limerick as part of a series of related operations this week.
Revenue officers seized 12kg worth of tobacco on Monday, a spokesperson said.
In a related intelligence-led operation on Thursday, Revenue seized 18kg worth of tobacco at a retail premises and an adjoining private residence in Limerick city.
The seized tobacco was found in packages which had arrived from the Netherlands and were destined for addresses in Limerick.
In a series of related operations this week, Revenue officers seized 30kgs of ‘Amber Leaf’ tobacco in Shannon and Limerick. The unstamped tobacco had a retail value of over €15,400, representing a loss to the Exchequer of €12,900.
An Irish woman in her 30’s was interviewed at the scene, Revenue has stated.
Investigations are ongoing with a view to prosecution.
