Woman seriously injured following Limerick road crash

A WOMAN is being treated in hospital after she was seriously injured in a road collision in County Limerick this Wednesday morning.

The woman, whose aged in her 60s, was the driver of a car which was in collision with a truck on the N69 near Askeaton shortly after 7am.

Two units of Limerick Fire and Rescue from Foynes attended the scene of the collision as did local gardai and paramedics from the National Ambulance Service,

The driver of the truck received medical treatment at the scene but did not require treatment in hospital.

The woman was transferred by ambulance to University Hospital Limerick where her condition is described as serious.

A section of the N69 remains closed with diversions in place as technical and forensic examinations are continuing, It’s expected the road will re-open later in the afternoon.

Gardai at Newcastle West are investigating the circumstances surrounding the collision and can be contacted at 069 20650.
