BREAKING: ‘It has been a great campaign for the centre ground of Ireland’: Cllr John Sheahan
The Glin man also marks new mayor's card
LIMERICK’s march for five-in-a-row continues but Cllr John Sheahan has already achieved it.
The Glin man said he was absolutely delighted to be re-elected again for the fifth time as a councillor.
“It's been a long campaign and great to get the result at the end of it. I'd just like to thank everybody who supported me during the campaign. It has been a great campaign for what I call the centre ground of Ireland.
“Fine Gael and Fianna Fail have had a good local election. We have some new candidates coming in which will be very welcome and onwards and upwards,” said Cllr Sheahan.
The leader of Fine Gael in the council chamber also looked ahead to the new democratically elected mayor.
“We have a job of work to do now as councillors to work with our new directly elected mayor, whomever that will be. There will be a new phenomenon in the chamber and I look forward to being part of that,” said Cllr Sheahan.
He agrees that it will be a totally different five years.
“It will be but what we will be doing is making sure that the councillors, as a pack, still have control, that people will have to talk to us, that we'll have to get their policies by us, and we will be there for the good of Limerick to do whatever is needed,” concluded Cllr Sheahan.
