LIMERICK sprinter Ciara Neville has narrowly missed out on a place in the semi-finals of the women's 60m at the World Athletics Indoor Championships at Kujawsko-Pomorska Arena in Torun, Poland.
Twenty six-year-old Neville finished in fourth place in her heat in a time of 7.31. The top three finishers qualified for the semi-finals of the women's 60.
The talented Limerick woman, who has battled back from a long term hamstring injury to compete at the top level, finished just outside of the non-automatic qualifier spots for the semi-finals
Emerald AC athelte Neville, who is coached by Noelle Morrissey, won gold at the recent 123.ie National Senior Indoor Championships and has lowered her personal best that had stood since 2017 on three occasions this season.
Her 7.26 second clocking in Athlone last month ranks her equal fourth on the Irish all-time list for the event.

Neville is competing in her first major championships as an individual for five years, having competed in the 2021 European Indoor Championships in the same stadium.
The national record for the 60m of 7.15 is held by Rhasidat Adeleke since 2024.
Neville became national 100m champion at last year's outdoor championships.
Meanwhile, another Limerick athlete, Lisnagry sprint hurlder, Sarah Lavin will compete in the heats of the Women's 60m hurdles on tomorrow, Sunday, from 11.55am Irish time.
