JUST A handful of tickets remain on sale for the Thomond Park event with former heavyweight boxing champion Mike Tyson.
Close to 700 people are expected to crowd into the Thomond Suite in the stadium to hear ‘Iron Mike’ reflect on his life and somewhat controversial career on October 10.
Standard tickets for the event are sold out, but a number of ‘meet and greet’ tickets, which will allow fans to meet and have their picture taken with the Brooklyn boxer, are still available at a cost of €75.
“The tickets are nearly gone, we are down to the last handful really, it will be a complete sell-out, it proves how popular he is,” said the promoter of the event, Mike O’Regan.
“It should be a good night and we are looking forward to it,” added Mr O’Regan, who is working with CWH Promotions in the UK to bring Tyson to Ireland.
Tyson himself took to Twitter recently to publicise the event, telling the world and his three million followers that: “I’m going to be joining Mike O’Regan and everyone in Limerick, Ireland on October 10 at Thomond Park. Looking forward to it guys”.
The former undisputed heavyweight champion of the world will answer questions from fans at the special event, and will be interviewed for an hour by RTE presenter Dara Maloney.
Limerick boxer Willie ‘Big Bang’ Casey, Alan Donnellan and Gary ‘Spike’ O’Sullivan will also be interviewed by the RTE presenter, while a video of Tyson’s fights will also be screened before the Hangover star makes his appearance.
Limited tickets remain on sale from Gleeson’s Sports Scene.
