CHILDREN from all over the city and county have the opportunity to select and dress their own teddy bear, now that Christmas is just around the corner.
Launched by Mayor Kathleen last Thursday at their Mallow Street address, the colourful Dream Teddy store offers children a wide range of entertainment, according to the owners.
Mayor Leddin said she was impressed with Leona O’Callaghan and Darren Davies’ - the owners - idea.
“I would like to congratulate the two on their business here. It’s a good idea. I have confidence in what they are doing. They are full of enthusiasm and they should be very successful in the future,” she said.
Ms O’Callaghan, of Castletroy, told the Limerick Leader that children can get their own customised teddy bear. She added they also run kids’ parties.
“The concept is quite simple, really. The kids can come in and design their own teddy bear, for only as much as €20, which is a great price. They can pick from a wide selection of teddy bears in the shop. If they want a small one it’s €14 and the bigger one is €18. And if they want, they can dress them up in a number of costumes.
“You could pick up a teddy bear in a shop, but it won’t mean as much. Which is why when the children pick their teddy bear, they make a pledge to be their best friend and to take care of them and it means so much more to them then,” she said.
Ms O’Callaghan’s colleague, Darren Davies, added that there is a “fun” competition, where the children get a chance to name the store mascot.
“We are actually running a competition also, where we are inviting all the kids to think up a mascot name. So all they have to do is colour in a picture, enter in the best name and send it off. The winner will get a build-your-own teddy bear. It’s a great idea for them to find out about us, too,” he said.
Dream Teddy also run a Party Bus for children.
