LIMERICK'S Torch Players are returning to the stage this autumn with a production of Gut, written by Frances Poet.
Gut is described as “a gripping modern drama that explores the limits of trust, fear, and parental instinct”.
Directed by Daordre Minogue, the production will take place at the Belltable Arts Centre on Wednesday, September 24 and Thursday, September 25.
The cast of the production features Tara Monaghan, James Corr, Bríd Hartnett, and Pádraig Lohan.
Torch Players, one of Limerick’s longest-established theatre companies, presents two productions each year, “one rooted in classic tradition, and the other drawn from bold, contemporary writing,” a spokesperson for the company explained.

Gut represents the latter, the spokesperson added, describing the show as “a powerful and unsettling modern play that resonates strongly with today’s world”.
“The story begins with a simple encounter that quickly spirals into suspicion and anxiety, asking urgent questions about how much of the world we can protect our children from, and whether instinct is always to be trusted.
“Frances Poet’s acclaimed script has been praised for its raw honesty and psychological depth, keeping audiences on edge from the very first moment.”
Director Daordre Minogue commented: “Gut is a brave, unsettling piece of theatre that pushes us to confront the shadows of everyday life. Torch Players are proud to bring such an important and timely work to Limerick audiences.”
Tickets for Gut are available from the Belltable Box Office at 061 953400 or online at www.limetreebelltable.ie.
