Irish actor Jack Reynor to star in season two of acclaimed legal drama on Apple TV

The Actor will play a lead role in the new season of the Apple TV series based on the 1990 movie

Wicklow actor Jack Reynor has been cast in the lead role of season two of Apple TV's Presumed Innocent.

The 'Midsommar' star will appear opposite Rachel Brosnahan (DC's Superman) in the new installment of the show. Brosnahan will serve as an executive producer alongside portraying lead character 'Leila Reynolds'.  Reynor's role is currently undisclosed but he is expected to play a major part in the upcoming season.

Reynor and Brosnahan will succeed Jake Gyllenhaal who led the first installment alongside Irish actress Ruth Negga which was nominated for four Emmys.

The second season of the acclaimed series will be based upon Jo Murray's upcoming novel 'Dissection of a Murder' which is set to release on the 7th of May 2026 through leading global publishing company Pan Macmillan.

This follows the same formula from previous iterations of the legal thriller. Season 1 of the Apple series and the 1990 movie starring Harrison Ford were both adapted from Scott Turow's 'Presumed Innocent' novel released in 1987.

Reynor has strong Irish roots after moving to Wicklow when he was two from Colorado and spent his childhood there before launching a prolific acting career. He still resides in the garden county with his wife, Limerick model Madeline Mulqueen. The actor has featured in Irish favourite 'Sing Street' amongst his many other credits with 'Presumed Innocent' set to be his next major project.

No official plot details for the upcoming season have been released as of yet however the synopsis of the novel documented by the publisher gives a description of what fans can expect.

It reads "when Leila Reynolds is handed her first murder case, she's shocked at how high-profile it is. The murder of a well-respected known judge. This shouldn't be the kind of case she's leading, its way beyond her expertise but the defendant Jack Millman is clear, he wants her and only her.

It continues "to make things worse, he's refusing to talk, How is she supposed to prove herself in what appears to be an unwinnable case. Leila finds herself not only fighting to keep Jack out of prison but also keeping her own secrets buried. There are two sides to every story, guilty and not guilty, you decide'.

The series will be produced by Bad Robot Productions and David. E Kelley productions in association with Warner Bros television. David E. Kelley (Ally McBeal, Big Little Lies) will serve as a showrunner for season 2 alongside Erica Lipez (The Morning Show).

Apple TV will announce the broadcast and production details in due course as they finalise the casting of the show.
