Shane Lowry reveals sweet message daughter wrote on golf ball ahead of Open

Shane Lowry has shared a picture of a message one of his daughters left on his golf balls ahead of the Open in Royal Portrush this week.

Shane Lowry and Rory McIlroy are among the Irish hopefuls as the Open championship returns to Royal Portrush this week, the scene of Lowry's famous win in 2019.

Lowry made a steady start to the tournament on Thursday with a one under par round of 70 leaving him just three shots off the lead in joint 21st place.

After playing alongside world number one Scottie Scheffler on Thursday, Shane took to Instagram to share a sweet message left on one of his golf balls by his eldest daughter Iris.

Shane's wife Wendy originally posted the picture showing that Iris had written the words 'best dad & golfer ever' on a ball in her dad's kit for the Open. She captioned it: "When Irish marks the balls." Shane then added the sweet post to his own Instagram stories.
