The second semi-final for the Eurovision song contest took place on Thursday night, and Ireland failed to make it out of the semi-final.
Ireland have failed to qualify in 8 out of the last 10 years in the Eurovision, the two acts to qualify for Ireland was Bambie Thug last year who managed a 6th placed final, and Ryan O'Shaughnessy in 2018 who finished 16th in the final.

EMMY took to social media to write about her feelings after the results were announced:
"I’m SO sorry, Ireland. We will forever love you and be grateful and honored to have represented you"
Comments under EMMY's Instagram post were full of support for Ireland's entry:
"Emmy, you shined so bright!!! Be proud of yourself. I am so proud of you."
Another reads:
"You made us all so proud you've absolutely rocked the whole Eurovision!"
Comments on RTÉ's X account were more mixed in the response to the performance with a few users condemning the inclusion of Israel in the contest, one user wrote:
"Hard done by tbh. Don't know how Malta got in and Israel shouldn't even be there"
Another user wrote:
"Boycott everything that Israel participates in specially sports music & movies."
Despite the noise around Israel's inclusion they qualified for the Grand Final on Saturday night, and Israel are currently sat at 7th favourite to win the contest.
