Esteemed UL professor to headline poetry event

Professor Eoin Devereux

THE First Wednesday Series (FWS), in partnership with Poetry Ireland, has announced Professor Eoin Devereux as the featured reader for its upcoming event at The White House Bar in Limerick city.

Internationally published, Prof Devereux brings a wealth of literary and academic experience to the series. He currently teaches on UL’s MA in Creative Writing, specialising in community engagement.

Prof Devereux's work has appeared in leading publications including The Irish Times, Janus Literary Magazine, The Stony Thursday Book, and Southwords. His most recently published poem ‘Pravda’ was
shortlisted for the 2024 An Post Irish Book Awards New Poetry Category.

Prof Devereux’s work has focused on working class experiences. Landscapes in Wexford and Limerick strongly feature as the settings for his poetry.

The evening event on Wednesday, March 5 will also feature an open-mic session, continuing the series' tradition of discovering and nurturing new voices in poetry.
