The Irish singer Linda Nolan has sadly passed away following a long battle with cancer. 

The 65-year-old shot to fame singing alongside her sisters in the girl group The Nolans. The Dublin born sisters enjoyed global success as one the country's favourite girl bands.

The Nolans were the first Irish act to ever sell more than a million records worldwide, with some of their most iconic hits including I'm In The Mood For Dancing and Gotta Pull Myself Together.

Linda was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 2005 and was given the all clear in 2011. Unfortunately, after another diagnosis in 2017, her cancer returned and eventually it spread to her brain in 2023. 

Throughout her life, Linda helped raise over €23 million for charities such as Breast Cancer Now, the Irish Cancer Society and Samaritans. 

According to a statement from her manager Dermot McNamara: "Over the weekend, Linda was taken by ambulance to Blackpool Victoria Hospital and admitted with double pneumonia. In the early hours of Tuesday morning, she went into a coma and into end-of-life care, surrounded by her devoted family.

"At around 10.20am on Wednesday January 15, she passed peacefully, with her loving siblings by her bedside, ensuring she was embraced with love and comfort during her final moments, aged 65."

He added: "Linda’s legacy extends beyond her incredible achievements in music and entertainment. She was a beacon of hope and resilience, sharing her journey to raise awareness and inspire others."
