TRAINEE lawyer Aisling from Limerick was "weak at the knees" after her date with former county footballer Hugh on First Dates.

The popular dating show returned to our screens last night on RTÉ2.

Aisling (20) and Hugh (23) were the final couple to appear on the first episode of First Dates.

The pair seemed nervous at the start of the date as Aisling was anxiously looking at the bar to see her date as soon as she walked into the restaurant. Hugh also spilled some of his pint of Guinness on himself and was afraid this would give Aisling the ‘ick.'

They bonded over their mutual love of Limerick and its nightlife with Hugh saying that he spent most of his nights out in his final year of college in Limerick. "I go out in Limerick the whole time, the house parties are unbelievable."

They also spoke about their previous relationships and Aisling revealed she was in a relationship for three years from the age of 17 to 20. She explained: "We hadn't been seeing each other as often as we would have liked and with me moving away and him moving away, we knew that was just going to keep going for a long time."

"My friends are great, my housemates are great, but nothing compares to the love you have with a partner or with someone you're spending your life with."

Aisling rang her mother to inform her about how the date was going, saying that Hugh was beautiful and "great craic" and her mother told her to "go for it."

She said she was "weak at the knees" after her date with Hugh and loved his tattoos, curly hair and pearl necklace.

At the end of the date, Aisling and Hugh both said they wanted to see each other again and when asked if they fancy each other, Hugh remarked: "I think it's evident."

The pair left the restaurant holding hands and have since enjoyed a second date.

Nervous IT manager Paddy from Kildare is based in Limerick and he also had a successful date with feisty singer-songwriter Dervla from Bundoran.

With a refreshed look, new graphics and colour scheme, this series will offer plenty of surprises. Series 10 will feature the show’s oldest daters yet and ten familiar faces will also be returning to the restaurant once again.
