Rehearsals in full swing for the upcoming production
NEWCASTLE West Musical Society will be kicking off its 2024 production, The Addams Family, this Thursday.
The timing of this show to begin on Halloween is no coincidence, as the Addams family are “creepy and they’re kooky, mysterious and spooky, they’re altogether ooky!”.
The Broadway musical sensation will be presented by the Newcastle West Musical Society over the course of two weekends.
The production is starring Susan Browne as Morticia Addams and Colman Deely as her loving husband Gomez Addams.
Eamon O’Connor will be playing the role of Uncle Fester. Molly Sparling and Shauna Normoyle will feature sharing the role of Wednesday Addams, with Padraig Doherty and Adam Noonan sharing the role of Lucas Beineke.
Charlie O’Connell and Anne Marie Murphy will take to the stage as Mal and Alice Beineke.
The cast is completed by Tiernan Burke and Róisín O’Sullivan as Pugsley Addams, Annmarie Keating as Grandma Addams, and Paul Keyes as Lurch.
A spokesperson for the show said: “In the kooky, upside-down world of the Addams Family, to be sad is to be happy, to feel pain is to feel joy, and death and suffering are the stuff of their dreams”.

“This musical, at its core, is all about the power of love to triumph over even our greatest differences”, says director, Susan Browne.
The shows will begin at 8pm this October 31, November 1 and 2, and November 7, 8, and 9 at Feohanagh Castlemahon Community Hall, V42 XH99.

The Adamses have lived by their unique values for hundreds of years and Gomez and Morticia, the patriarch and matriarch of the clan, would be only too happy to continue living that way.
The magnificently morbid family is put to the test when outsiders come to dinner, hurling them into a night that will change their lives forever.
Their dark, macabre, beloved daughter Wednesday is now an eighteen-year-old young woman who is ready for a life of her own.
Wednesday Addams, the ultimate princess of darkness, is all grown up and has a shocking secret that only Gomez knows.
She has fallen in love with Lucas Beineke, a sweet, smart boy from a normal, respectable Ohio family — the most un-Addams sounding person one could be! And to make matters worse, she has invited the Beinecke’s to their home for dinner.
In one fateful, hilarious night, secrets are disclosed, relationships are tested, and the Addams family must face up to the one horrible thing they’ve managed to avoid for generations: change.
Now, Gomez Addams must do something he’s never done before — keep a secret from his beloved wife, Morticia. Will Gomez manage to keep his daughter’s secret until the two families meet for a fateful dinner with hilarious consequences?
Fans love the Addams Family for their unconventional spirits and ways of affection which are highlighted in the musical. Each iteration of The Addams Family finds its own voice and brings forth another aspect of the beloved family.
