A LIMERICK rock choir are to perform alongside friends from Edinburgh for a special event.

The Rolling Tones rock choir will play host to their Scottish friends, part of the Thistle Do Nicely choir on Saturday, May 25 at the Castleconnell Parish Hall from 4pm.

Kerry Jane Hurley, a member of the Limerick rock choir, recalled a concert she attended in Glasgow two years ago - where she met a lovely group of ladies.

“Two years ago, I attended a Queen with Adam Lambert concert with my son, Cameron, who is a huge fan. We met two lovely ladies, Carol and Elaine from Edinburgh, at the hotel before who were attending the show too.

"At breakfast, we met the ladies again and showed them photos and videos we had taken, as we were right at the front of the stage and had a great view. The ladies then asked Cameron, 'Wasn't Bohemian Rhapsody amazing? We sing that in our choir!' My ears perked up, and I asked them what else they sang in their choir,” recalled Kerry Jane.

After they named a few songs her choir also sing, Kerry Jane told her new friends about the rock choir she runs at home in the Treaty City. After which, they all decided to collaborate.

Last November, The Rolling Tones rock choir visited Edinburgh to collaborate with Thistle Do Nicely Choir for the weekend.

“The event was called Celtic Connections and the two choirs performed at the Hibernian Supporters Football Club.placeholder image
“The event was called Celtic Connections and the two choirs performed at the Hibernian Supporters Football Club.

"A few weeks before we went we discovered that coincidentally, Hibernian Football Club was founded by a Ballingarry priest, Fr Edward Joseph Hannan in 1875. This added such an extra layer of sentiment to our trip!,” said Kerry Jane.

This May, it’s Limerick's turn to host. Thistle Do Nicely will travel to Castleconnell for the weekend for the concert hosted on May 25.

Tickets are available via Eventbrite or Shannon Stores and Protea Café.
