Marian Keyes explains you have 'no privacy' living in Ireland compared to London

Irish author and radio presenter Marion Keyes has spoken in a recent innterview about the differences between living in Ireland and England.

The Limerick author is known for her popular fiction writing and in an interview with BBC Radio 6 Music, Marion spoke about how she lived in London for 11 years.

She said: "I lived in London for 11 years and it was an exciting time and I use the word exciting in brackets. Meanwhile I met a nice English man who was very starry-eyed about Ireland and he was the one who wanted to move to Ireland."

The author touched on the hilarious sense of community Ireland has: "Everyone in Ireland, even though there is five million of us, we know everything about each other. If we don't know it immediately, we will know it within about four seconds of meeting you. "

Explaining how she loved the freedom of bigger cities rather than country living, the 60-year-old says she may have changed her mind: "I love the freedom and anonymity of living in a big city, but now living back in Ireland for the last 26 years, I love the fact that you can do nothing, that you have no privacy. I find it hugely entertaining and sort of comforting."
