'The show is still true to its roots' - New series of The Young Offenders confirmed for return

Conor and Jock will return to screens next month

Fans of the hit comedy series The Young Offenders from producers Vico Films are in for a treat as the upcoming fourth series will come to BBC One on Friday, May 10, at 9.30pm, with all the beloved characters returning for more hilarious and heartwarming adventures.

The Young Offenders has become a cultural phenomenon, capturing the hearts of audiences worldwide with its unique storytelling and unforgettable characters.

In 2023 The Young Offenders continued to see strong viewing with 6.3M iPlayer requests despite no TX.

The new series follows on from the hugely successful previous three series which originally aired on BBC Three, the 2018 Christmas special which saw the show move to BBC One for the first time and the box office smash feature film from 2016.

Creator and showrunner Peter Foott says,

“We’re so excited to be bringing all of the team back for the new series of The Young Offenders.

“We’ve been able to change things up a little bit this time around, but the show is still true to its roots, we wanted to give the fans the same mix of funny storylines that are also heartfelt, so it’s very much the same show with all cast returning.

“Everyone involved is delighted with series four, and we can’t wait for people to see it and be back in the world of The Young Offenders.”

Series 2 and 3, filmed back-to-back in 2019, proved massive draws for audiences not only in Ireland and the UK, but across the world, and the show garnered critical acclaim for its sensitive yet hilarious story-telling and performances.

The Young Offenders has been commissioned for the BBC by Jon Petrie, Director of Comedy Commissioning and the Commissioning Editor for the BBC is Ben Caudell.

The Series Producers for Vico Films are Peter Foott and Cormac Fox, alongside Executive Producers Abby Singer, Lotte Beasley and Michael Doherty. Commissioning Editor for RTÉ Comedy is Justin Healy. The Director for series 4 is Jamie Jay Johnson.
