After Cork actor Cillian Murphy scooped Best Actor at the Oscar's last night a number of celebrities and Irish fans have come forward to congratulate the actor.
Murphy is the first Irish born man to win Best Actor at the awards, which are in their 96th year.
Prior to the awards, Oppenheimer co-star Emily Blunt appeared on 60 minutes in Australia where she claimed Cillian was unaware of his talent, shy and not able to handle a compliment.
When asked in the interview if Murphy "knows how good he is," Blunt said: "No. I don't think so. I don't know if any of the great actors know that or say that about themselves. I feel he's always in search, he's always looking ahead off to the horizon at what else he can do or how far he can push it to satiate this creative fire in him. I think it would be so painful for him to acknowledge how good he is. He loves what he does so much but I can't ever picture him accepting he did a good job.
"He is the best actor in the world and the worst celebrity in the world. He is my favourite actor I have ever worked with because he is in unparalleled and how it pulls you in and what he can do. It's the kidnap. The whole room crackles with a sort of life force when you work with him. It is wonderful to work with him."

After the win Cillian spoke to Newstalk reporter saying: "I am in a bit of a daze, I am a little overwhelmed. I am very humbled. I am very grateful and I am very proud to be Irish standing here today. It is really meaningful to me and I think in Ireland we are really great at supporting artists and I think we need to continue doing that and the next generation of directors and actors."
