The Late Late Show Valentine's Special

New host of RTÉ's Late Late Show Patrick Kielty was joined on Friday by actor Domhnall Gleeson, comedian Aisling Bea, Irish media personality Laura Whitmore and American singer-songwriter Noah Kahan.

This week's show saw Kielty host his first Valentine's Special.

The Valentine's episode is typically a huge hit with Irish people going on blind dates or taking on speed dating.

However, this year many viewers took to social media platform X to complain about the lack of atmosphere and a lively audience.

One person said: 'BRING BACK THE ORIGINAL VALENTINES SPECIAL!! We want the cringe, the drama, the drunk audience!'

Another viewer wrote: 'The audience must of got hot chocolate in the green room The most sober audience ever for the Late Late Show Valentines Special. So dead'

A third said: 'For a valentine's day special the audience is very quiet.'

The appearance of Irish actor Domhnall Gleeson seemed to be the redeeming factor of the show for viewers with one stating: 'I'm a happily married heterosexual man for almost 10 years so didn't really expect to fall in love watching the #latelateshow valentines special but I just found out Donal Gleeson is a Villa fan.'
