Dobbo's best bits: Former RTÉ broadcaster's epic moments on national telly

RTÉ broadcaster, Bryan Dobson, has announced that he has decided to retire from RTÉ in April. Here are some of his best bits from the telly after over 40 years on air!

1. When he claimed to "model" himself on Ron Burgandy

During an interview with Sinéad Kennedy, the anchor admitted he enjoyed the Will Ferral epic, laughing: "it's the tache really isn't it!"

2. When he began his newscast in darkness

The anchor left his co-host, Sharon Ní Bheoláin at the desk by herself, as he stood at the wrong end of the studio waiting for a cue which never came

3. His behind the scenes laughter as sportscaster dubs Marty Morrissey as tennis pro's "close second" dream date.

RTÉ's Eamon Horan brought the giggles out in Mr Dobson, as he jokingly named colleague, Marty Morrissey, as Eugenie Bouchard's ideal date, after Justin Bieber.

4. When Sharon Ní Bheoláin called him 'Dobbo' on the Six One News

Laughing about the Late Late Toy Show back in 2015, the broadcaster, in all the fun, let slip the iconic nickname on air.

5. Last but not least, he introduced one of Ireland's most loved RTE news moments - 'Man slips on ice'

While introducing the segment about low water supplies in Dublin during 2010's ferocious winter, Mr Dobson could never have realised the popularity the video would gain.
