New artistic director for contemporary art gallery in Limerick city

Pádraic E Moore will be taking over from Mary Conlon

ORMSTON House has appointed a new artistic director to replace the founder of the Limerick art gallery.

Pádraic E Moore will step into the role in January 2024, taking over from Mary Conlon, who founded the contemporary art gallery in 2011.

Pádraic E Moore is a writer, curator, and art historian. He holds a BA in History of Art and English Literature from University College Dublin (2004), an MA in Visual Art Practices from IADT, Dublin (2007), and completed CuratorLab, the postgraduate programme at Konstfack University, Stockholm (2010).

Moore is a former resident of the Jan van Eyck Academy, Maastricht and he recently curated Communal Enthusiasm, a major exhibition marking 75 years of the post-academic institute. In 2022, Moore became the inaugural mentor of Catalyst Commissions at De Appel, Amsterdam.

From 2019 to 2021, he was guest curator at Garage Rotterdam.

Responding to his appointment, Pádraic commented: “It is a privilege to be appointed as Artistic Director of Ormston House.

Since its foundation in 2011 this organisation has distinguished itself as a vital resource and platform for cultural workers of all disciplines.

“I am excited about familiarising myself with Limerick and its surroundings, and I look forward to collaborating with the team at Ormston House. Together we will develop an ambitious programme that resonates with local, national, and international audiences alike.
