THE first salmon caught in Ireland this year cost Limerick restaurant proprietor, Ted Moynihan, £157.50. This is believed to be a world record price.
But he was prepared to bid as far as £200 to get the fish for his customers who can partake at £4 per portion of 8oz.
The fish weighed 11lbs and was brought home to the bag by former rugby international Barry McCann, who loaned it to Brendan O’Dowd of JJ O’Dowd, Tralee.
