THE Limerick Leader today exposes a conman who is begging on the streets of Limerick. A sign placed on his lap claims he is disabled and blind and needs help for food and shelter.
The man has been seen sitting barefoot at the corner of O’Connell and William streets, rocking backward and forward while beggin from people passing-by.
While watching the man for over an hour, it was observed that at least 20 people put money into his cup. When he became aware that he was being closely watched, the man stood up and ran barefoot up William Street and into a coffee shop.
A short time later he emerged sipping a cup of tea, wearing his shoes. When confronted, the man tried to sprint off and showed no signs of being disabled.
The man later went into a bookies.
