The woman, aged in her early 20s, arrested in connection with the fatal assault remains in garda custody

The 47-year-old man who tragically died in a fatal stabbing assault at a residential property Carrick-on-Suir town centre in Tipperary on Saturday night last, has been named locally as Pavel Javorski, who is originally from the Czech Republic, Tipperary Live has reported.

Gardaí continue to question a woman, aged in her early 20s, who has been arrested in connection with his death at an apartment at Callanan's Lane, located off Castle Street in Carrick.

The woman, who is also from the Czech Republic, was arrested on Saturday night and is being detained at Clonmel Garda Station under Section 4 of the 1984 Criminal Justice Act.

Her period of detention was extended last night and she remains in garda custody this morning.

It's understood her period of detention will expire at 2pm at which time the gardaí must decide to release or charge the womoan.

Mr Javorski was found unresponsive by emergency services at the property at Callaghan's Lane on Saturday night. He was later pronounced dead at the scene.

Emergency services were alerted to the incident at the apartment at approximately 11pm that night.

The property where Mr Javorski was found unresponsive was sealed off and preserved and gardai from the Garda Technical Bureau carried out forensic examinations there yesterday (Sunday) and also conducted door-to-door enquiries in the Castle Street area.

State pathologist Dr Heidi Okkers carried out a preliminary examination at the scene and the deceased man's body was removed from the property at approximately 1.30pm yesterday for the conducting of a post mortem examination at Waterford University Hospital.

Gardaí have appealed to anyone who may have any information on the fatal assault to come forward.

“Anyone with information is asked to contact Clonmel Garda Station at (052) 617 7640, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any Garda Station,” said a Garda spokesman.
