Irish people are hoping for a return of heatwave weather to Ireland and Met Éireann have indicated a return of warm sunshine
Met Éireann have hinted that Ireland could see a return to warm weather this weekend after an unsettled and blustery weekend.
In their latest forecast, Met Éireann say "current indications suggest some decent dry and sunny spells over the weekend, accompanied by a rise in temperatures."
Between now and then we look set to endure some more unsettled weather with heavy showers at times. Temperatures look set to gradually rise as we head towards the weekend.
They predict: "A mix of sunshine and showers for the first half of the week and with temperatures below average for the time of year. While there will be some more persistent spells of rain during the second half of the week, current indications are for more settled conditions to develop towards the end of the week and into the weekend, with temperatures increasing too."
The latest forecast says Monday will see a fresh start with good spells of sunshine.
"However, showers further west will gradually push eastwards, turning heavier and more frequent through the day. Local hail and lightning too, mainly across Ulster. Highest temperatures of 12 to 16 degrees, best values further east. Southwesterly breezes will freshen a little during the day, becoming gusty around showers," the forecast reads.
It continues: "Monday night will bring a mix of clear spells and further scattered heavy thundery showers, especially to west and northwest counties. Coold, with lowest temperatures of 4 to 9 degrees, in a mostly moderate west to southwest breezes, fresher near western coasts.
"Tuesday will bring widespread scattered showers from early on in the day. Some of the showers will be heavy with the chance of hail and lightning. Sunny spells at times too, before cloudier conditions develop over the northern half of the country in the evening. Highest temperatures of 12 to 16 degrees, with moderate to fresh westerly winds."
"A mix of clear spells and scattered showers feeding in from the Atlantic, with generally drier conditions further east [Tuesday night]. Lowest temperatures of 5 to 9 degrees, with light to moderate southwest to west winds.
"A mix of sunshine and showers to begin [on Wednesday]. The showers will clear eastwards, with drier conditions extending from the west through the afternoon and evening, but with cloud also starting to build from the west in the evening. Highest temperatures of 12 to 16 degrees, with moderate to fresh westerly winds, easing late in the day.
"Starting off dry for most [on Wednesday night], cloud followed by outbreaks of rain and drizzle will spread eastwards across the country, reaching most areas by morning. Lowest temperatures of 7 to 10 degrees, with light westerly winds backing southwesterly and freshening with the arrival of the rain.
"Starting off wet with widespread rain [on Thursday]. The rain will clear eastwards through the morning and afternoon, with scattered showers following and the odd sunny spell possibly breaking through. Milder than previous days with highest temperatures of 14 to 17 degrees, and with moderate to fresh southwesterly winds veering westerly with the clearance of the rain.
"Current indications are for drier and sunnier conditions further south and cloudier conditions with outbreaks of rain further north [on Friday]. Highest temperatures ranging from 15 degrees in the north to 20 degrees in the south, with moderate to fresh southwest to west winds."
The forecast concludes: "Current indications suggest some decent dry and sunny spells over the weekend, accompanied by a rise in temperatures."
