Garryowen FC welcomed Limerick Tag Rugby to their grounds last Friday evening to host their Valentines Tag Rugby Blitz. It was a highly successful blitz with over 110 tag rugby players (mixed: both ladies and gents) ascending to Garryowen with 11 teams taking part.

Teams from Limerick, Clare, Dublin and Galway, took to the all-weather pitch competing to be crowned Limerick Tag Rugby Valentine's Champion and with the Tag Rugby World Cup coming to Limerick in 2021 players are seeking every opportunity to showcase their skills.

In the Bowl Final, Tag Hunters were the unanimous victors. In the Plate Final, the Clare based West Coast Pirates beat the Limerick Based ProTAGonists 9-0. The Cup Final was contested by All Knight Long and Holy Bagel Team. The sides were level at half time but Holy Bagel Team scored 3 tries in the last few minutes of the game to win 6-3 and were crowned the Valentine’s Cup Champions.

All teams regrouped in the Garryowen clubhouse for food and the presentation of trophies and medals from Kemmy Stonecraft before moving to Amber nightclub in Limerick City. MVP’s of the night were awarded to Clare Hester of West Coast Pirate and Robert Meyer of Holy Bagel Team and were presented with the exclusive Limerick Tag Rugby Tag Shorts. #YURT
