It was a tough day at the office for all Limerick teams this weekend, with some big games taking place across the two days.
UL Huskies had to settle for second best against the in-form and unbeaten Maree in the Women’s Division One, losing out 97-46 on the road on Saturday afternoon. Big displays from Abbey Jeffrey and Abbie Goodsell just wasn’t enough for the visitors in the face of a superb performance from Maree’s Dayna Finn and Claire Rockall.
Limerick Celtics also lost out in their Women’s Division One clash with Phoenix Rockets, with the shooting power of the visitors’ Amanda Fioravanti – who finished the game on 32 points – ultimately the difference between the two sides, as Rockets ran out comfortable 47-71 point winners in the end.
In the Men’s Division One meanwhile, it was Dublin teams who dominated over Limerick at the weekend.
Limerick Celtics got a tough opening cross conference test when they faced off against the unbeaten DBS Éanna at home on Saturday.
Huge performances from John Galvin and new addition Vadal Faniel – who combined for 44 points – were not enough in the face of a big and physical Éanna side.
LIT also came out the wrong side of their clash with Dubliners, as they lost out 66-91 to Abbey Seals Dublin Lions.
Matt Scamuffo was once more the pick of the LIT performers, but Lions just had too much for the hosts. UL Sports Eagles also faced off against a Dublin side, hosting Bad Bobs Tolka Rovers in their opening cross conference game.
A 39-point game from Tarchee Brown just wasn’t enough to see them over the line though as they lost out 72-89 in the end.
