IN A glistening West Limerick ballroom tucked far below a gloomy grey sky, some of Ireland’s most influential fashion people converged for an event to celebrate the county’s unique style credentials.
The second #LimerickTagged event, this time in Adare Manor, was a collaboration between the marketing department at Limerick City and County Council and the Holman Lee Agency, with the aim of raising the profile of all that is luxurious in Limerick — and promoting it as a fashion destination.
First order of business was the fashion showcase, as models paraded down the glossy ballroom floor catwalk, wearing garments by some of our very own designers — including Marion Murphy Cooney, Stephen Bowman Lynch and Natalie King.
Slinky knitwear glided past those in the front row, designed by Caroline Mitchell and Linda Wilson, topped off with hats by milliners Antoinette O’Connell, Carol Kennelly and Aoife Hannon, to name just a few of the local talents shown.
In the afternoon, bloggers, influencers, and members of the national fashion media viewed a show featuring some of the county’s leading boutiques and fashion stores — stretching from the West, in Adare, Newcastle West, Abbeyfeale, Askeaton and Glin, all the way to the city’s opposite edge at Annacotty.
“We have an abundance of fantastic boutiques and shops across County Limerick, and what better place to showcase Limerick style than the stunning surrounds of Adare Manor,” said head of marketing and communications at Limerick City and County Council, Laura Ryan.
“All our visiting fashion press waxed lyrical about their time in Limerick and the exposure that Limerick receives as a result of events like this is invaluable.
“A similar event focusing on Limerick city stores took place earlier in the year with a hugely positive reaction and we’re looking forward to planning more #LimerickTagged events for 2018,” she added.
There were some familiar faces, from the worlds of style, TV and print, at the event. Irish model Thalia Heffernan, whose star rose outside the fashion set this year when she appeared on Dancing with the Stars, was on duty, microphone in hand, for Xposé.
Limerick bloggers Louise Cooney, Aoife McNamara (That Indie Irish Blog) and Sinead O’Brien (Sinead’s Curvy Style) were polished to perfection. Down from Dublin were TV stylist Cathy O’Connor, blogger Leanne Woodfull, and influencer Rob Kenny — to name-drop just a few.
But it was an altogether local affair, as models were from the Holman Lee Agency, hair was done by the Hugh Campbell Hair group and make-up applied with care by FMN Makeup and Hair, Mungret.
The guests of #LimerickTagged went home with luxurious goodie bags, sponsored by Limerick.ie, Newbridge Silverware, Dubarry Ireland, Keane’s Jewellers, Brown Thomas and Adare Manor.
“We had a fantastic day showcasing the beautiful and unique style from County Limerick and I’m thrilled we were trending number one on social media. Our whole aim was to promote ourselves together and showcase our county and I’m really proud of everyone who supported our efforts,” said Ms Holman Lee.
