MASSIVE demand for tickets saw Bruce Springsteen’s Thomond Park concert sell out in a matter of hours today.

Concert promoter Peter Aiken confirmed to the Limerick Leader this afternoon that the Limerick gig, plus The Boss’s Cork date in Páirc Uí Chaoimh and Belfast show in the Kings Hall Arena, are now sold out.

He said that 25,000 tickets for the July 16, 2013 gig in Thomond Park were gone “not long after 10am” and moved quickly to dispel rumours that there would be a second concert in the stadium, saying that Springsteen and the E-Street Band would only be playing three concerts on these shores next summer, in Limerick, Cork and Belfast, as previously announced.

A queue of people braved wintery conditions outside Euro Empire on Limerick’s O’Connell Street this Thursday morning to snap up tickets for the concert.

Others purchased the tickets - priced €90 and €100 - online through Ticketmaster, but there were many reports of the system crashing before completion. While there were delays, tickets were available regardless online until around lunchtime this Wednesday.

There are reports of tickets being put back on sale through online sites, with a pair of tickets for the rock concert already clocking in at a whopping €600.

An advance pre-sale of tickets took place before the public sale began for those in possession of a 10-year ticket for the stadium, while a pool of thousands of tickets allocated to supporters club members sold out in minutes this Wednesday.

A pre-sale offer was sent out to season ticket holders on Tuesday morning by Munster Rugby, with tickets available to a lucky few.

The offer, sent by email to 10 year ticket holders in Thomond Park, read: “Munster Rugby, through our association with Thomond Park Stadium and Aiken Promotions, is delighted to give you this opportunity to access this limited offer (subject to availability) to purchase tickets before they go on general sale for the Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band concert”.
