FIJI’S Daveta Rugby and San Francisco Golden Gate Rugby have been added to the list of teams taking part in the first Limerick World Club 7s tournament in Thomond Park in August.
Twelve rugby teams from around the world will compete in the event - which boasts “biggest names in club and provincial rugby” including Saracens, New South Wales Waratahs, Stade Français, South Africa’s Blue Bulls and Westerns Province, along with Munster, will take part in the two day event, which organisers have said will run for the next five years in Limerick.
Modelled on international rugby sevens events - primarily held in Hong Kong - Limerick has been chosen as the host venue city for the club event, which should draw thousands of rugby fans into the €40m stadium over the weekend of August 9-10.
Fiji, renowned as the most successful country in rugby 7s, will be sending their famous club side, Daveta Rugby to take part in the event, which features sides from Moscow, Vancouver and New York - completed by San Francisco’s Golden Gate rugby team, one of the fastest growing teams in the USA and full of international talent.
Early bird special ticket prices for Thomond Park start from €12.50 for adults and €5 for children and are on sale through ticketmaster.ie until the end of May.
