LIMERICK Rose Dawn Ryan is rallying her supporters ahead of the Rose of Tralee, regional finals, which will take place over the June Bank Holiday weekend.

Care worker Dawn, 21, whose father Ray played for Young Munster, was crowned the 2014 Limerick Rose, after edging ahead of 22 other hopefuls at the Rose selection ball in March,

Her younger brothers – triplets Evan, Gavin and Darren all play for the Young Munster senior team and are no strangers to the headlines,

During the regional finals, which take place in Portlaoise, Rose of Tralee Host Dáithí Ó Sé will interview each of the 60 Roses over three nights before two judging panels select 23 Roses to go forward to the International Festival in Tralee next August.

“To be selected as the 2014 Limerick Rose was the most amazing and surreal experience of my life. I have met such beautiful people and have been so lucky to have participate in and attend such great events around Limerick. I am so excited about the wonderful fun filled and experience of a lifetime that is ahead of me in Portlaoise, said Dawn this week.

“It will be a pleasure to proudly represent my county and my fellow Limerick Roses to the best of my ability. I had always dreamed of becoming a Rose and when the opportunity arose I felt it was too good of an experience not to put myself forward at the Limerick Rose selection,” she added.

Roses representing 29 counties in Ireland, 13 regions in the United States of America, Scotland and eight major cities in England, Melbourne, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Bahrain, Oman, Canada, Luxembourg and Germany will all take part in the regional festival.

Alas, Limerick hasn’t had a finalist in the Dome in Tralee for the past six years.
