COULD it be a case of seventh time lucky?
Limerick hasn’t had a finalist in the Dome in Tralee for the Rose contest for the past six years, but efforts are already underway to recruit the 2014 Limerick Rose.
This week, Chloe Heslin, last year’s Limerick Rose, launched the search for those fairest of face in Limerick at the Castletroy Park Hotel.
The Limerick Rose Selection will take place on Saturday, March 8 in the Castletroy Park Hotel. Applications are open to entrants aged from 18 to 27 years.
All entrants will be asked to participate in a number of “fun, social events prior to the selection, making it a memorable and enjoyable experience for all involved,” said the organisers.
“The whole experience has been unforgettable,” said Chloe, the 2013 Limerick Rose, “the causes I have helped, the opportunities that have arisen, the people I have met and the friends I have made, have made this the most rewarding experience you can imagine”.
Limerick’s chosen ambassador for the Kerry pageant will receive a whole host of prizes, including designer gowns, beauty salon treatments, hair treatments, hampers and accessories - all donated by local Limerick businesses.
Communities throughout the city and county are asked to consider an ambassador to represent their local locality and to contact the Limerick Rose Centre for more details on how to apply.
Application forms are also available for young men, aged between 21 and 30, who wish to participate as a Rose of Tralee escort this year. The Limerick escorts will also participate in all official functions with the Roses in the run up to the Limerick Rose Selection and could in turn go on to attend the famous escort boot camp and indeed the Rose of Tralee International Festival in August.
Anyone who wishes to find out more about entering the Limerick Rose Selection, can contact the organisers on 087 147 4100, email email@example.com or find them on Facebook at Limerick Rose Centre.
Limerick won the crown twice - in 1984, and 1994 - with Dianne Hannagen and Muirne Hurley taking home the tiaras.
