TWO men have appeared in court in Kenya after they were charged in connection with the death of Fr Jeremiah Roche earlier this month.
Fr Roche, 68, who was from Athea, was stabbed to death during an apparant robbery at his home near Kericho town some 200 km (120 miles) west of Nairobi.

Two men were remanded in custody until March 2010 after they were charged with violently stealing electrical items worth €1,600 and personal documents from Fr Roche.

Robbery with violence is a capital offence under Kenyan law and carries a maximum penalty of death.

Five other people are still being questioned in relation to the death of Fr Roche, whose funeral took place in Athea before Christmas.
