Picture Slideshow: College Players launch new show

The College Players return to the stage this autumn with their production of Lend Me A Tenor. The West End and Broadway hit will come to Mary I’s Lime Tree Theatre on Friday, November 15 at 8pm.

Lend Me A Tenor is about a world renowned opera star named Tito Morelli who falls into a drunken stupour and is presumed dead before curtain up in Verdi’s Otello.

Unknown to the audience, docile assistant impresario, Max, with operatic ambitions stands in to critical rapture. The tenor awakens, dons his costume and thereafter follows a hilarious comedy of confusion in which the two Moors are absurdly confused by two swooning females, a volatile Italian wife, outrageous bellhop and cynical impresario.

The original production written by Ken Ludwig was the recipient of nine Tony Awards nominations. Also the original was winner of the Laurence Olivier Award for comedy of the year, Drama Desk Award and Outer Critics Circle award.

Tickets are €17.00/14.00. For more information see the website: www.limetreetheatre.ie
