PEOPLE across Limerick are being encouraged to take part in a major voluntary clean-up operation.
Rugby legend Paul O’Connell recently launched the Team Limerick Clean-up (TLC) initiative, which will take place on April 3, 2015 - Good Friday - and is looking for communities and voluntary organisations to sign up.
TLC is an initiative sponsored by the JP McManus Benevolent Fund and supported by Limerick City and County Council, Mr Binman the Limerick Leader and Limerick’s Live 95FM.
As part of the scheme, which was launched at the grand final of the Limerick Going for Gold competition, members of the public are being encourged to get together for up to four hours to collect and recycle litter in their local area.
Launching the initiative, Paul O’Connell said it’s easy for people to get involved in the clean-up day.
“Going for Gold and Tidy Towns are great initiatives but I do think there probably is a really big commitment involved and TLC is just four hours on the morning of Good Friday for people to come together and get the city and county ready as we head into the summer,” he said.
Volunteers can sign up and get clean-up packs at Team Limerick Cleanup or by calling the dedicated helpline on 061-496200.
