Three-man committee to make decision on Limerick hurling manager job
A three-man sub committee has been put in place to select the new Limerick senior hurling manager.
However, it remains unclear if Justin McCarthy will be considered to remain in the position - he has yet to confirm if he is interested in remaining at the helm for another term.
The remit of the sub-committee does not rule out the re-appointment of McCarthy or any former manager.
The key trio entrusted with the appointment of the manager are former players Damien Quigley (Na Piarsaigh), Paudie Fitzmaurice (Killeedy) and current CEO of Dairygold Jim Woulfe. Woulfe is a native of west Limerick but now residing in Cork.
Clubs have been asked to submit nominations for the position of Limerick senior hurling manager and the closing date is Friday July 23.
Limerick GAA chairman Liam Lenihan told last night's meeting that the three-man appointments committee will not be restricted to names nominated by clubs.
"If they feel that there is someone not nominated by the clubs they are free to interview them," explained the chairman.
